Since March 2022, there are at least 30 political detainees whose bail applications were denied by the court.

🔴 5 are charged with Section 112 (lèse-majesté) including:🔴
1. #Methin has been detained the longest (124 days). The 22-year-old soldier has been detained pending trial for lèse-majesté at the Military Prison 11 since 19 March 2022. He was filmed, alluding to King Rama X while arguing with a driver who collided with his car.

2-3. #Bung and #Bai Por have been detained pending trial for lèse-majesté after conducting public polls related to the royal motorcade since 3 May 2022. Both have been detained at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution and their bail requests have been denied 7 times. Their health have been severely deteriorating as they have been on a hinger strike to protest against the injustice of the court since 2 June 2022.

4. #Sombat Thongyoi has been imprisoned pending appeal at the Bangkok Remand Prison since 28 April 2022 after the court sentenced him to 6-year imprisonment for posting messages deemed lèse-majesté.

5. #Pornchai Yuanyee has been detained pending trial for lèse-majesté at the Bangkok Remand Prison since 7 July 2022. He was accused of burning the royal ceremonial arch in front of the Ratchawinit Secondary School on 19 September 2019 during a protest which was organised against the 15-year anniversary of the military coup.

Bung and Bai Por have been on hunger strikes since 2 June 2022. Their bail requests have been denied for the third time. Teerawit of Thalu Gas Group has also been on a hunger strike since 18 June 2022.
Meanwhile, Polphon of Thalu Gas Group is being treated for nephritis at the Correctional Hospital after attempted suicide by taking 62 paracetamol pills.

3 have #cut themselves

“Ome” Baiboon and Phuttiphong have cut their arms to protest against the injustice of the court twice. During the second time, the two detainees, as well as Nueng, cut their arms during their covid treatments at the Correctional Hospital. They have been categorized as psychiatric patients.

7 detainees have tested positive for covid including “Ome” Baiboon, Nattapol, Phuttiphong, Teerawit, Nueng, “Rock” Tararat, and Sombat Thongyoi. While all of them have been treated and have recovered, some are awaiting to be returned to the prison.
